Feeding frustration Salah Al-Bardweil
The evening gathering of Al-Hamaydeh clan in the central Gaza Strip’s Deir Al-Balah City broke up late on Thursday. The clan members who meet every week had been exchanging jokes and had found commentary on the failure of the most recent dialogue talks between Fatah and Hamas to be a source of entertainment. Salim Al-Hamaydeh, who works in trade, says that Palestinians no longer trust the seriousness of the faction representatives in reaching an agreement. “The dialogue has turned int o a source of popular jest, for what is taking place is beyond the bounds of sound reason,” he told Al-Ahram Weekly. “The faction leaders are busying themselves talking about the government and elections and the electoral system at a time when tens of thousands of people in Gaza don’t have shelter, at a time when Palestinians in the West Bank are caught in a wide-scale war in which Israel is taking control of their land and property,” he added. This clan’s joking reflects the frustration of Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip since the most recent Cairo dialogue round between Fatah and Hamas failed…

Israel’s Key Vulnerability Paul Grenville
…Israel’s key vulnerability lies in its being a trading state with a highly skilled workforce but few natural resources. The boycott of Israeli products, coupled with divestment in Israeli companies and a cultural embargo has to be a key way of supporting the Islamic and secular Palestinian resistance (PFLP), as well as a way of applying pressure to the Zionist establishment to moderate its penchant for atrocities, encouraging dissent within Israel and the deepening of existing fissures within Israeli society. If an international boycott can be linked to the issue of the Right of Return for the Palestinians and the cancellation of the Jewish Right of Return, an uncontroversial strategic goal in support of the Palestinians can be flagged up for the movement…

some days you get shot at Eva Bartlett | In Gaza
In the “buffer zone”, created and expanded by Israel [the now 1 or 2 km band of land running along on Gaza's side of the border, from south to north and northeast to northwest], it is literally hit and miss whether farmers and civilians will be maimed or killed by the Israeli army on any given day. On April 5th, farmers harvesting lentils in Khoza’a were, surprisingly, not shot at. Two Israeli jeeps lingered an uncomfortably long time, honking and flashing their headligh ts at the farmers. We were able to stand with the farmers as they swiftly swept the land clean of lentil stocks…
