George Galloway branded a terrorist in Canada for relief to people of Gaza
From: Mark MacCuish Date: 05.06.2009 12:29 PM
I am from Canada. I live in Calgary on the West coast. Calgary is the native home to not only to the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, but also Jason Kenney, Canada’s immigration officer. Both are of the “Conservative” party.
Kenney is the government official who famously rejected George Galloway, the British MP, from entering Canada on a speaking tour on the grounds that he was a “national security threat” and a “terrorist supporter”.
What’s ironic is that the USA let Mr. Galloway in while Canada was putting out press conferences rejecting his visit. My parents are Scottish, so I have a fondness for Mr. Galloway, a scot himself, but my respect for him comes from his moral standing and his support for the Palestinian people.
Mr. Galloway was scheduled to come to Calgary so naturally I was excited. I was dissapointed when I found out he was banned and so I decided to call Mr. Kenney’s office here in Calgary. I went on a lunch break and dialed his number. Unfortunately he was not in, but this is basically the conversation I had with this secretary:
Me: Hi can I speak to Mr. Kenney please?
Secretary: He is not in at the moment can I help you?
Me: Yes I’m wondering why Mr. Galloway was banned from entering Canada.
Secretary: Because he is a terrorist.
Me: Excuse me?
Secretary: He is a terrorist and a terrorist supporter.
Me: How so?
Secretary: He gave millions to Hamas and they are terrorists.
(this is where I decided to give her an update on reality)
Me: Well actually you are wrong. Mr. Galloway’s non-profit organization raised over 1 million on his behalf, and he used this money to buy medicine, blankets, wheelchairs, food and water, etc. which he then gave to the PALESTINIAN PEOPLE, not Hamas. They are two entirely different things. This was in response to the Israeli massacre of the Gaza strip and the Palestinian’s who live there, a defenceless people under a brutal Israeli occupation. In fact, perhaps you didn’t read up on this matter, but Mr. Galloway has come out numerous times saying he does not support Hamas nore its ideologies. So you are wrong on many fronts here. Unfortunate as it may be for you and your party, Hamas is a democratically elected government, not a terrorist organization. Finally, since when is giving medicine and food to a defenceless people under an occupation automatically make you a “terrorist”?
Secretary: Well by Canadian law he gave money to terrorists. He is a terrorist and a terrorist supporter.
Me: Not only is that a lie, but that also makes no sense and is borderline racism. The women and children of Gaza are not terrorists. I gave $10 to Mr. Galloway’s relief fund — does that make me a terrorist too ?
Secretary: Yes! (and hangs up on me)
It was at this point when I realized whose name is on this women’s bi-weekly pay cheques: Mr. Jason Kenney. I also realized where this women got her information from:
a) Mr Kenney
b) Mr Kenney’s daily/weekly memo’s/email’s
c) Canadian media (the largest Canadian media company, owning the largest TV and news networks and almost all of Canada’s newspapers, is CanWest Global. CanWest is and has been owned by the same Jewish family for many years — the Aspers.)
