al-falasteenyia

Nader Nadery, of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, said: ‘Our teams have met with patients. They are investigating the cause of the injuries and the use of white phosphorus.’ ….Marc Garlasco, senior military analyst at Human Rights Watch and a former senior Pentagon intelligence analyst, said there has been widespread and regular use of white phos phorus by US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. Hiding behind civilians
Left I on the News
In a not-unexpected development, the U.S. is now blaming the Taliban for the deaths of up to 147 Afghan civilian. They seem to be retreating from their earlier claim that some of the civilians were actually killed by the Taliban, and admitting that it was U.S. bombs that did the damage, so now, echoing the Israeli explanation for the murder of hundreds of civilians in Gaza, they’ve gone to that old standby – the Taliban were “hiding behind civilians.” This is nonsense on two diff erent levels. The first is the idea that the U.S. forces were actually targeting “Taliban,” rather than just two Afghan villages. The U.S. admits to making 13 passes (with an unspecified number of aircraft) over the two villages. Sorry, when you make that many passes, you aren’t targeting one or two specific houses where you think (or even know) that “Taliban” are hiding; you’re targeting the village itself. But even more importantly, there’s the entire concept…

Tour with Tears in Afghan Bombed Village
Everything is chaos, a kid is mourning for his mom and an old woman weeps for 19 family members in Geranai village of Farah
Hamid Haidary
The tiny roads of the Afghan village do not witness the cheer of kids, the muddy houses are destroyed and the survival villagers even cannot find a place to mourn the victims of the fatal air-raid. It’s incredibly harsh to tolerate a second in Geranai, a remote village in Bala-Buluk district of the western Farah province, where the green rural area is heavily bombed and single smiling face can hardly be seen. One or two are remaining from a family of 10 to 15 members and the village is mourning the deaths, exceeding 100. “I am alone now – I have lost 19 of my dearest relatives, they were parts of my heart … I lost them all at a glance, why am I still alive?” tears dropping on the face of a 62 years old woman saying this, sat in a corner of her room which has no roof with broken windows and doors…

Phosphorus claim after fatal air strikes in Afghanistan
Jon Boone
Afghanistan’s leading human rights organisation is investigating claims that white phosphorus was used during a deadly battle between US forces and the Taliban last week in which scores of civilians may have died. Nader Nadery, a senior officer at the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission, said the organisation was concerned that the chemical, which can cause severe burns, might have been used in the firefight in Bala Baluk, a district in the west ern province of Farah. Dr Mohammad Aref Jalali, the head of an internationally funded burns hospital in Herat, said villagers taken to hospital after the incident had “highly unusual burns” on their hands and feet that he had not seen before…

WILL NATION THAT HOUSED 425,000 NAZIS IN WWII FIND ACCOMMODATIONS FOR 241 GITMO CAPTIVES?
By Sherwood Ross
The mean-spirited attitude of Republican politicians over repatriating Guantanamo’s remaining 241 inmates in the U.S. reflects both their irrational fears and loss of moral compass. House GOP leaders have introduced a “Keep Terrorists Out of America Act” that would give governors’ veto power to stop the transfer or release of detainees in their state. The same governors that never question the building of atomic bom bs, napalm, biological, and other banned U.S. terror weapons in their jurisdictions can be expected to make hypocritical political hay out of this issue…

An injury to one …
Farid Esack, The Electronic Intifada
…I come from apartheid South Africa. Arriving in your land, the land of Palestine, the sense of deja vu is inescapable. I am struck by the similarities. In some ways, all of us are the children of our histories. Yet, we may also choose to be struck by the stories of others. Perhaps this ability is what is called morality. We cannot always act upon what we see but we always have the freedom to see and to be moved. I come from a land where people braved onslaughts of bulldozers, bullets, machine guns and tear gas for the sake of freedom. We resisted at a time when it was not fashionable. And now that we have been liberated everyone declares that they were always on our side…

THE HYPOCRISY OF THE PAPAL VISIT TO ISRAEL
Desertpeace
…The past few years have been witness to a mass exodus of Palestinian Christians from the Holy Land, Jerusalem in particular…. Yet, the Pope stated that “The ancient tradition of pilgrimage to the holy places also reminds us of the inseparable bond between the church and the Jewish people.” (Hypocrisy) Best for this particular Pope to remain at home…. away from those he seems to relish insulting. His visit is nothing more than a stamp of approval for the new Israeli Government. It is nothing but a trip shrouded in hypocrisy, both from his hosts and from himself…

Jerusalem governor: “Palestinians facing ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem”
IMEMC
Jerusalem governor at the Palestinian Authority, Adnan Al Hesseini, stated Saturday that Jerusalem and its Palestinian natives are subjected to ethnic cleansing and blatant racism as they face expulsion, as Israeli forces continue demolishing their homes, and replacing them with settlers. In a press release, Al Husseini said that the Jerusalem Municipality waged a war against the Palestinians by issuing orders to demolish their homes, stores, an d even by wiping out whole neighborhoods, to replace them later on with more illegal settlement outposts…
