Abbas thanked the Iraqi government for its treatment of the Palestinians CAMPBELL ROBERTSON, NYTimes
Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, visited Iraq for the first time since the American invasion in 2003, meeting with Iraqi leaders on Sunday to garner support for the Palestinian leadership and Iraq’s Palestinian community… Saddam Hussein awarded special privileges to Palestinians in Iraq, including free homes in middle-class neighborhoods and secure government jobs, to bolster his reputation as a leader of the Arabs and a fighter against Western oppression. But Iraq’s Palestinians, who numbered about 60,000 in 2003, faced bloody reprisals at the hands of Shiite militias after Mr. Hussein’s downfall. Now there are about 11,000 Palestinians in Iraq… Nevertheless, saying that the government had taken steps to address their problems, Mr. Abbas thanked the Iraqi leadership for its treatment of the Palestinians. “The Iraqi government considers them as part of the Iraqi people and part of the government’s concern and a part of Iraqi security,” he said. “We are sure they are in safe hands.”…

Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe ( Full Text) Authors: Niels H. Harrit, Jeffrey Farrer, Steven E. Jones, Kevin R. Ryan, Frank M. Legge, Daniel Farnsworth, Gregg Roberts, James R. Gourley, Bradley R. Larsen , The Open Chemical Physics Journal
We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples we have studied of the dust produced by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Examination of four of these samples, collected from separate sites, is reporte d in this paper. These red/gray chips show marked similarities in all four samples. One sample was collected by a Manhattan resident about ten minutes after the collapse of the second WTC Tower, two the next day, and a fourth about a week later. The properties of these chips were analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The red material contains grains approximately 100 nm across which are largely iron oxide, while aluminum is contained in tiny plate-like structures. Separation of components using methyl ethyl ketone demonstrated that elemental aluminum is present. The iron oxide and aluminum are intimately mixed in the red material. When ignited in a DSC device the chips exhibit large but narrow exotherms occurring at approximately 430 °C, far below the normal ignition temperature for conventional thermite. Numerous iron-rich spheres are clearly observed in the res idue following the ignition of these peculi! ar red/g ray chips. The red portion of these chips is found to be an unreacted thermitic material and highly energetic…

The South Africa Moment in Palestine
Justin Podur interviews Omar Barghouti By Omar Barghouti and Justin Podur
…Justin Podur (JP): Perhaps we should start with an outline of the call for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS), and the demands of the call. Omar Barghouti (OB): The BDS call is based on an analysis that the oppression of Palestinians has three basic forms. First, the occupation and colonization of those lands occupied since 1967. Second, the denial of the right of return to Palestinian refugees forcibly displaced in 1948 and since. Third, the system of racial discrimination against the indigenous Palestinian citizens of Israel. The demand is to end these injustices: to end the occupation of the lands occupied in 1967, to allow the right of return to Palestinian refugees, and to end the apartheid system against Palestinian citizens of Israel…

Barbaric Israel by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley
A nation that has violated “every norm of civilized behavior and international law” since its founding in 1948 is held virtually blameless by the U.S. corporate media – Israel sycophants of the lowest order. “Now members of the Israeli Defense Force themselves are coming forward to admit that they committed war crimes” – but the U.S. press is censoring their confessions! Even when Israeli soldiers openly testify to committing “murder” in Gaza, as report ed by the Israeli press, the U.S. corporate media “keeps the people of this country ignorant” of the crimes against humanity bankrolled by American taxpayers…

The statement continued that this government should be rejected by all as incompatible with human rights and international law and is a government of a culture of crime…

Israeli high court rules in favor of further home demolitions in Jerusalemsa Saed Bannoura – IMEM
Just a few days after ruling to force Palestinian homeowner Darwish Hijazi off his land to allow Israeli expansion in his home and property, the Israeli high court has issued a ruling on the cases of two more families who challenged the Israeli demolition orders placed on their homes. The demolition orders are part of a larger Israeli settlement plan, which the Israeli Mayor of Jerusalem and the city planners have called the ‘E1 Plan’, to tear down thousands of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem to make way for Disney-like theme parks based on biblical themes…

Abbas praises Iraq on first post-Saddam visit Benjamin Morgan, AFP
Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas praised Iraq on Sunday for supporting his people, without making mention of reports of human rights abuses against them by religious extremists in the war-torn country. Before the war, about 34,000 Palestinians lived in Iraq, where they enjoyed a privileged status under Saddam. But they have since become victims of numerous attacks, especially at the hands of Shiite militias. The United Nations says the number of Palestinian s living in Iraq has more than halved, falling to 15,000, in the past six years. “We thank the Iraqi government for taking care of our people here,” the Palestinian president said at a joint news conference with his Iraqi counterpart…”Palestinians in Iraq have been forcibly evicted, arbitrarily arrested, abusively detained, publicly slandered, kidnapped and killed,” said a UN report on refugees in Iraq in April 2008….
